How to Make Cinnamon Rolls
This is a a fun sweet recipe have fun and remember it's never pretty until the end. This recipe makes about 12 rolls
Ingredients
Dough
1 envelope of (1/4 ounce) of active dry yeast
1/4 cup of warm water (105-110 degrees Fahrenheit)
6 tablespoons slated butter, at room temperature
1/4 cup of granulated sugar
4 large egg yolks
3/4 cup whole milk, at room temperature
1 teaspoon of ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon of salt
3 1/2 to 4 cups of flour
Vegetable oil for the bowl
Filling
2/3 cup of light brown sugar, tightly packed
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons of salted butter, melted
Vanilla Glaze
2 1/4 cups of powered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons whole milk
Step 1: Make the Dough
In a small bowl dissolve yeast and warm water. Let stand until foamy about 5 minutes
Step 2: Make the Dough (pt 2)
In a large bowl (with an electric mixer) beat butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
Step 3: Make the Dough (pt 3)
Add egg yolks one at a time beating after each addition. Mix in the milk, cardamom, and salt until well combined. Beat in yeast mixture and add 3 1/2 cups of all purpose flour mix until well combined.
Step 4: Prep for Rising
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface, adding more flour if necessary.
Step 5: Let Rise
Place the dough in an oiled bowl cover and let sit & rise until doubled in volume. For about a 1 hour.
Step 6: Make the Filling
In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and brown sugar. Melt butter to bind the filling to the dough.
Step 7: Fill, Roll, & Cut
On a lightly floured surface roll out the dough to about 12 x 18 inch rectangle. Brush with butter and sprinkle in the filling. Starting at the short end, roll the dough into a cylinder. Slice crosswise into 12 slices.
Step 8: Preheat & Puff
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and let the cinnamon rolls puff for 30 minutes on the side
Step 9: Bake & Cool
Bake until the rolls are golden brown about 20-25 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool.
Step 10: Make Glaze & Glaze
Make the vanilla glaze:
In a small bowl combine the powered sugar and vanilla. Next slowly whisk in the whole milk. Spread across cinnamon rolls. Enjoy:)
