Hello In this episode of In the Kitchen with Matt, I will teach you how to make Chocolate Strawberry Roses. Talk about an amazing Valentine's Day gift idea. This super classy treat, will sure to impress. It is quite easy to make. Enjoy! Click on the image below to see the video tutorial, or follow the steps, or do both!

Ingredients

-Modeling Chocolate (you can use fondant if you like, but modeling chocolate tastes better, I think. :) I have another instructable on how to make modeling chocolate as well.)

-White Chocolate Melting Wafers or white chocolate chips

-Strawberries (washed and dried)

-Package of Long Lollipop Sticks (you can find these at walmart, target, places like that or online)

-Parchment Paper

Cut the Modeling Chocolate

Step 1.png

First we are going to pinch off or cut our modeling Chocolate. It will depend on how big you want your rose to be. Make sure you have a big piece of parchment paper that you are working on.

Roll Chocolate

Step 2.png

Now we are going to kneed the chocolate in our hands for a bit (unless you already did this with your modeling chocolate beforehand), then we are going to take our 1st piece of chocolate and roll it out like a snake. This will wind up being our very center rolled up petal piece.

5 More Round Pieces

Step 3.png

Now we need to take 5 more smaller pieces and roll them up into balls. You can make them various sizes if you like. And you can use different kinds of modeling chocolate if you like. These will serve as our petals.

Fold Edge of Parchment Paper

Step 4.png

Next we will fold over the edge of the parchment paper so it covers all the round modeling chocolate balls, then we will push them down with our fingers, so they get a little flat.

Use Rolling Pin

Step 5.png

Now we will use a rolling pin and roll out the modeling chocolate balls flat, they will now look like chocolate petals. If you don't have a rolling pin, use a canned food from the pantry as your rolling pin. :)

Do the Same With the Chocolate Snake

Step 6.png

Now we will do the same thing with the chocolate snake, fold over the edge of parchment paper and roll it out thin.

Melt Your White Chocolate

Step 7.png

Now we want to melt our white chocolate. We are going to melt these in the microwave, we will melt them on hi for 30 seconds, stir, then 20 seconds. That should do the trick for this amount of chocolate.

Trim Strawberries

Step 8.png

Next we will trim off the bottom of the strawberries, give us a nice flat edge.

Add Lollipop Stick to Strawberry

Step 9.png

Now we are going to dip a lollipop stick into the white chocolate then we will stick it in the bottom of our strawberry.

Dip Remaining Strawberry

Step 10.png

Next let's fully dip our strawberry. Do this with all your strawberries then chill in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes, so the chocolate sets.

Roll Up the Snake

Step 11.png

Now we need to take our little flat chocolate snake and roll it up about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way. You can pinch off a little bit of the bottom so it sets better on the top of your strawberry if you like.

Wrap Snake Around Strawberry

Step 12.png

Now, we will place our chocolate snake on top of the strawberry and wrap it around.

Add First Chocolate Petal

Step 13.png

Next we will add our first chocolate petal. We attach it at the base of the strawberry and then wrap it around the strawberry. We can stretch it a little bit, the modeling chocolate is pretty forgiving.

Wrapped Around Petal

Step 14.png

Here we see the first petal is full wrapped around. Continue with the rest of the petals, placing them next to one before. After about three of them, you will then place the remaining to across from each other, so they cover the edges of the first few.

Complete

Step 15.png

Here we have the completed strawberry. Some neat things you can do - Alternate petals with different types of modeling chocolate (white, dark, milk, etc.) Or you can experiment with colors.

Cost

Step 16.png

Here is a breakdown of the cost. Costs will vary depending on where you live. But generally these are going to be much cheaper to make at home then they will be to buy at a specialty store. Plus they are home made!! Nothing says I love you better then a bunch of home made chocolate strawberry roses! :)
