Gather Ingedients
10.5 oz mini marshmallows
2 tbls water
1/2 cup chocolate chips. I typically use semi sweet.
Vegetable shortening
Powdered sugar
Make Fondant Base
Grease a microwave safe bowl with shortening. Helps the mixture from sticking to the bowl.
Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Add the marshmallows
Add the 2 tbls water
Microwave for 1 minute. Stir
Microwave at 30 second intervals stirring between each until the marshmallows are just melted.
Add Powdered Sugar
Stir in 3-4 cups of powdered sugar
Knead the Fondant
Grease your work surface with shortening. Turn your fondant out onto your work surface.
Knead the dough adding powdered sugar until it reaches the consistency of play dough.
Form into a ball and rub with some shortening. Wrap it in several layers of plastic wrap and put it in an airtight container. Let it sit for several hours or overnight before using.
