How to Make Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
You will need:
· ½ cup – mini chocolate chips
· 3 medium-sized bananas that are semi-ripe to very ripe
· 1 ½ cups – all-purpose flour
· 1 – egg
· Salt (just a pinch)
· 1 teaspoon – baking soda
· 1/3 cup – salted butter
· ½ cup – sugar
· 1 teaspoon – vanilla extract
Supplies
· Hand mixer
· Medium-sized mixing bowl
· Loaf pan
· Measuring spoons
· Measuring cups
· Serrated knife
· Oven mitts
· Aluminum foil
· Cutting board
· Spatula
· Paper towels
· Cooking spray
· Toothpicks
Before beginning, preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and make sure that one of the racks in your oven is placed in the middle like the second picture shows above. If your rack is too close to the top, the banana bread might burn and bake unevenly. If the rack is too far to the bottom, the banana bread might not bake all the way.
When starting the recipe, take out everything you need and set it out on the counter. This ensures that you are not scrambling to find things, as I often end up doing!
First, grab your mixing bowl, hand-mixer, and the 3 ripe bananas. Take the bananas out of the peels, and place them into the mixing bowl. Mix the bananas with the hand mixer until mashed so that they look like the above right picture.
Next, take the 1/3 cup of butter, place it in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave the butter for about 30 seconds until it is completely melted. Pour the melted butter into the mashed bananas, and mix until it looks well combined.
After mixing the bananas and butter together, put the ½ cup of sugar, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, pinch of salt, and 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour into your mixing bowl. Mix all of the ingredients together with the hand mixer until the batter has a smooth consistency.
Now, measure out ½ cup of chocolate chips and dump them into the batter. Mix them in with the hand-mixer until the batter looks like the above right picture.
Spray the cooking spray all around the pan. When finished, take a couple of paper towels, scrunch them together, and rub the cooking spray all over the inside of the loaf pan. This will help to make sure that the banana bread does not stick to the pan after the baking has completed.
After your loaf pan has been sprayed with cooking spray, take your spatula, and while tipping the mixing bowl, and scoop out the mixture into the loaf pan.
Before placing the loaf pan in the oven, cover the top of it with tin foil so that the chocolate chip banana bread does not burn on the top. In order to put the loaf pan in the oven, it can be easy to burn your hands on the sides of the oven. To prevent this, grab your oven mitts and gently slide in the loaf pan to the middle rack, and to the middle of the rack like the above picture. Close the oven door and set the timer for about 55 minutes. This precise time will ensure perfection!
When your chocolate chip banana bread is finished, take it out of the oven with your oven mitts, and poke the bread with a toothpick. The toothpick should come out clean. If it does not, put the banana bread back in the oven for a few more minutes until the toothpick comes out clean.
Let the chocolate chip banana bread cool off for about 10 minutes before you take it out of the loaf pan. After letting it set for a while, flip the loaf pan upside down to get the banana bread to come out. Then, flip the banana bread right side up. You can now take the serrated knife and cut off any pieces that you want to eat right away, or you can cut the whole loaf to the desired sized pieces. When cutting the bread, cut away from your fingers.
Finally, tear off a piece of aluminum foil to fit the whole loaf of chocolate chip banana bread, and wrap it up.
Enjoy when desired!
