Blend Blend Blend

Pour all the cream into the food processor. Start blending on the lowest setting then move up to the highest setting. The butter will go through phases as you mix it. First it will turn into whipped cream. After about a minute or two, you will want to scrape the sides of the bowl. It will be thick whipped cream at this point.
Then keep blending until the buttermilk separates from the butter. This will be very obvious because it will sound different and there will be all kinds of liquid sloshing around.
NOTE: Once you see/here that sloshing, do not mix it any further, you run the jeopardy of reintroducing the buttermilk into the butter and ruining it. Since it can't be separated again after that.
This whole process only takes 5 to 7 minutes.
Drain and Squeeze

Pour the butter and buttermilk into a strainer over a bowl. Gather the butter together into a ball, then squeeze it several times using gloves or very, very clean hands. It is important to squeeze out as much buttermilk as possible.
Rinse and Squeeze

Now add the ball of butter to a bowl of cold water and squeeze and knead the butter several times, rinsing the butter allows you to store it for longer periods of time. Essentially "washing" the butter removes leftover bits of buttermilk and lactose which can quickly go bad, giving it a longer shelf life. But if you want to eat it right away or within a couple of days, you need to rinse the butter.
*If you want to add salt, this is where the salt gets added. After rinsing the butter, add 1/4 tsp of salt and knead it into the butter several times so it gets spread out evenly.
Shape and Store

Now shape the butter into a rectangle and wrap it with parchment paper. I recommend writing the date when it was made on the outside. Store in the fridge until you want to use it.
Use the leftover buttermilk in any baking recipe that calls for milk, water, or buttermilk. You can also use it in pancakes, waffles, etc. Or I even put it in my cereal instead of normal milk.
Eat It!

Now time to spread that on a piece of toast. Mmm delicious!
