How to Make An Apple Pie

In this instructable, I will show you how easy it is to make a pie.

Ingredients

For the crust, you are going to need:

2 c all purpose flour

3/4 c vegetable shortening

cold water

1 tsp salt

Whisky Business

Mix the salt with the flour.

Hasty Pastry

Using a pastry blender or two knives or even just your hands, blend in the shortening until the mixture has a crumbly texture.

Water You Waiting For

Adding 1 tbsp of cold water at a time, then mixing it in with a fork before adding another, continue to do this until the mixture is moistened and comes together to form your dough.

Flour Power

Placing your dough on a floured surface, cut the dough in half.

Make each of your dough halves into patties and roll them gently with a floured roller. Take your time to roll out the dough, don't rush this or get too aggressive.

After you have rolled it out to fit a 9 in pie plate, place it in the plate and press it down.

Mmmmm..Filling

Ingredients for the filling:

7 granny smith apples

1/4 c all purpose flour

1/2 c sugar

1/4 c light brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 stick of butter

One Bowl Step!

Mix the flour and both of the sugars together.

Granny Smith Loves Pies.

Peel the apples and slice them.

Almost Finished!

Place the apples in the pie plate, top with the flour mixture, then top with the cinnamon and lastly finish it of by covering it with small pieces of the butter.

So Easy, Seriously..and, It's Kind of Fun.

Top the pie off with the 2nd dough you rolled out the same way you did the first dough.

Trim the edges.

Tuck the top dough underneath the bottom dough.

Fluting is super easy. Push your right them in between your index and thumb on the left hand.

Getting It Ready for the Oven

Cut slits on top and for the glaze, just brush on some milk.

Bake!

Bake in an oven that's been preheated to 350° for about an hour, or until the crust is golden brown.

Cool Down!

Let it cool to room temperature before serving.
