In this Instructable, you will learn how to make an LED cube step by step easily with Arduino.

An LED cube is arrangement of LEDs in cubical fashion, where LEDs glow in a specific pattern.

Lets Gets Started…

Components Required

  • Arduino Nano
  • Resistors – 100 Ohms -4 [ LCSC ]
  • LEDs (Diffused) – 64 [ LCSC ]
  • Non Enameled Copper Wire
  • Perfboard
  • Cardboard
  • Female Header pins [ LCSC ]
  • Single Stand Wire
  • Tools
    • Soldering Iron
    • Soldering Wire [ LCSC ]

First form the loop at all negative terminals of LEDs.

Trim the extra leads.

Drill the holes in the cardboard as given in the layout.

Insert the LEDs in the holes as shown in the picture.

Cut the copper wire according to the length of the frame (3.5 inch).

Solder all positive terminals in a row, with the help of copper wire.

Take a frame, and insert copper wire in the loop at negative terminal of LEDs.

Solder the joints.

Insert remaining frames, maintaining sufficient space between frames.

Solder all joints.

Place the LED cube on perfboard and solder.

Solder female headers, for inserting Arduino Nano.

Connections

Solder a wire to each frame and solder the free end to perfboard.

Solder 100 Ohms resistor at each terminal of the wire.

The other end of resistor must connect to Arduino Nano as following

  • Layer 1 –> A0
  • Layer 2 –> A1
  • Layer 3 –> A2
  • Layer 4 –> A3

Connect the wires, from Arduino nano to frame as given in the picture.

Upload the Arduino Code
