For 6 4-inch pancakes, you must mix 1 cup of mix with 2/3 cups of water.

First, measure out the mix and the water separately.

Shake the mix level while it is in the measuring cup to make sure you have the correct measurement. See the video for a demonstration of this.

In the videos, the red arrow marks the fill line for the water and the purple arrow marks the fill line for the mix.

Pour both the 1 cup of mix and 2/3 cups of water into the mixing bowl.

MIX THE WATER AND MIX

After having poured the mix and water into the bowl, vigorously stir the two with a whisk or fork until a consistent mixture with no clumps forms. If you do not have a whisk handy, a fork works well, too.

See the video for an example of good mixing technique.

HEAT AND GREASE PAN OR GRIDDLE

Griddles usually have preset heat levels. Since pans do not, you can tell if you have the right level of heat if when you put a small amount of water into the pan, it sizzles and evaporates very quickly.

Use a square of butter about 5mm thick to grease a medium sized pan. Another way you can tell if the pan is around the correct heat level when the butter melts and lightly sizzles. See the video for an example of this.

POUR MIX INTO PAN

Pour the mixture into the pan slowly until you reach the desired size for your pancake. For this recipe, pour the mixture until you have around a four-inch diameter blob in the pan. See the video for an example.

COOK & SERVE PANCAKES!

Once the mixture has been poured into the greased pan, let it cook until you see bubbles slowly forming at the top of the cake. See the video provided for what this looks like.

Once you notice the bubbles, check the underside of the cake. It is ready to flip when it is golden brown. See the other video for an example of the correct color tone.

To flip the cake, carefully slide the spatula under. Lift up the cake and turn it over back onto the pan.

Once you have flipped the cake, let the other side cook for slightly less.

Once you have fully cooked the cake, remove it with the spatula, using the same technique you used to flip it, and put it onto a plate.

Congrats, you cooked a pancake!

REMEMBER TO TURN OFF THE STOVE
