How to Magnetize a Screwdriver at Home
Magnetic-tipped screwdrivers are extremely handy and make many tasks much easier. When we are working with screws for small electronics or trying to place screws in hard-to-reach locations it's much easier when they stick to your screwdriver.
Instead of buying new magnetic tipped screwdrivers, you can magnetize your existing screwdriver using a magnet.
1. Choose a Strong Magnet.
The stronger the magnet, the easier it will be to magnetize the screwdriver.
Wipe the Screwdriver Clean.
Remove any grime from the screwdriver.
Rub It Against the Magnet.
Rub it against the magnet in one direction. Repeat this several times
Rotate and Repeat.
Rotate the screwdriver by a quarter turn. rub it again several times. Repeat with the third and fourth sides of the screwdriver.
Voila, You've Magnetized It!
Test your screwdriver afterward. You can easily tell if it’s magnetic when the tool attracts screws, which helps you to pick them up.
The effect lasts for months or even years, and if they lose their magnetic ability, just swipe them again.
