How to Knit the Woven Cable Stitch
Today we bring you a technique that’s as pretty as it is entertaining. It’s a type of stitch made by cabling that is also reversible.
For this tutorial, we’ve used the new Meripaca yarn in the color lavender. Isn’t it pretty? You will also need a pair of needles in right size for the yarn you’ve chosen and a cable needle to work the cables.
The first thing you’ll need to know for knitting the woven cable stitch is that you need to cast on a number of stitches that is divisible by 12. We cast on 36. Also, you have to keep in mind that this pattern uses a multiple of 7 rows.
*For the photo, we worked two repeats. Let’s get started! Cast on a multiple of 12 +12 stitches.
Rows 1 and 5: *knit 2, purl 2 and knit 2*. Repeat from * to * to the end of the row.
Row 2 and all even rows: work stitches as they appear—knit the knits and purl the purls Row 3: knit 2, purl 2 and knit 2. *Slip 6 stitches onto a cable needle and place them on hold in front of the work. Knit 2, purl 2 and knit 2. Return the stitches that you had on hold to the left-hand needle and knit 2, purl 2 and knit 2*. Repeat from * to * until there are 6 stitches left and knit 2, purl 2 and knit 2.

Repeat rows 1 to 8 until you reach the desired length. Keep in mind that this type of stitch is reversible and will make a thick piece of fabric.
