How to Knit a Blanket
Here is the basics on how to knit! For this project, we will make multiple patches that will be sewn together to create a soft, warm, and cute knitted blanket!
Supplies
US 19/15 mm knitting needles
Yarn- (I used wool and the gang from amazon)
Cast Off
Create a slip knot and slide it onto one of the knitting needles, then tighten. Next cast of the yarn by looping it around the same needle. There should be about 14 loops.
Knit the First Row
Weave the second knitting needle under the first stitch, the needle should go behind the first. Then, loop the loose yard around the second needle. Weave that same needle above the loose yarn, then under the first stitch on the first needle, and pull it off the first needle and on to the second. Repeat this step until all stitches are on the second needle.
Continue Knitting Rows
Repeat this process by knitting additional rows the same way the first was knitted. When beginning each row, the needle with the stitches should be in the right hand and the blank needle should be in the left. Continue until a square shape is created.
Finishing the Patch
To end a patch, knit two stitches onto the second needle. Weave the first needle under the first stitch and loop it over the second and pull it off the needle. Add another stitch so there are again two stitches on the second needle and repeat. Continue this process until there is one stitch left. Remove the patch from the knitting needle and cut the loose yarn at about arm's length. Pull the loose yarn through the loop, creating a knot and finishing off the patch. (I ran out of thread here so I had to finish with another color)
Stitching the Patches Together
Lay two patches side by side with the rows laying parallel to each other. Thread the loose string on one of the patches around the bottom, outside stitch on the other patch and then thread upward through the bottom stich of the first patch. Repeat this process moving upward until the two patches are completely attached. Do this for the other patches to create a blanket.
