How to Knit Dandelion Flower Stitch

Hi knitters!!

Today we are going to learn a technique called Dandelion flower stitch! You need to knit with both wooden needles and you’ll get an amazing shape, similar to a dandelion!

The dandelion flower is the most difficult part of this technique. Once you know how to knit it…it’s really going to be easier!

1. Insert your WAK right needle into the third down stitch form the second stitch from your left needle. This stitch is going to be the main stitch of the dandelion.

Put more yarn over your right needle and leave the thread behind the project.

Pull the needle out and leave the loop-lace formed onto your right needle. This is going to be the first leaf of your flower.

Knit 2 stitches and the second leaf of your dandelion. In order to do this, keep introducing the needle through the main stitch and follow again step 2 and 3.

Knit again 2 stitches and continue knitting the third leaf like you did before. It’s very easy because you only need to follow these 3 steps to knit more and more leaves.

Cast on a number of stitches multiple of 8 + 1 stitch.

Row 1: knit all the stitches.

Row 2: purl all the stitches.

Row 3: knit all the stitches.

Row 4: purl all the stitches.

Row 5: knit 3 stitches, one flower*, 4 stitches, another flower* and repeat from * to * until you arrive at the last 2 stitches of the row. Now knit both stitches.

Row 6: purl 2 stitches, knit 2 stitches together, purl 1 stitch, 2 stitches together, purl 1 stitch, 2 stitches together, *purl 3 stitches, 2 stitches together, purl 1 stitch, 2 stitches together, purl 1 stitch and 2 stitches together*. Repeat from * to * until you have 2 stitches left and purl them.

Row 7 to 10: repeat rows 1 to 4.

Row 11: knit 7 stitches, *one flower, knit 4 stitches*. Repeat from * to * until you have 2 stitches left and knit them.

Row 12: Purl 6 stitches, *2 stitches together, purl 1 stitch, 2 stitches together, purl 1 stitch, 2 stitches together, purl 3 stitches*. Repeat from * to * until you have 3 stitches left and purl them.
