How to Iron a Button-up Shirt
Gather the required materials below or the substitutes if needed and straighten out the wrinkles that everyone dreads.
Supplies
Ironing board(Or flat surface and towel)
Iron
Starch(to stiffen fabrics)
Shirt of choice
Step 1: Plug in Iron and Set Up Ironing Board.
Try to give yourself a bit of space to do this.
Step 2: Find the Correct Setting on Iron for the Shirt You Are Ironing.
For a dress shirt made of cotton, it will need a higher heat to reform shape. However, a shirt made of synthetic materials will need a lower heat to reform.
Step 3: Iron the Collar
Lay shirt on ironing board (unbuttoned). Unfold collar and press the collar with the iron.
Step 4: Front of the Shirt
Lay the front of the shirt down on the ironing board. (Either side is fine) Move the iron outwards from the center, towards the hemming of the fabric.
Step 5: Front of the Shirt
Switch the side of the shirt when confident that the side ironed in the previous step is free of creases. Repeat on current side.
Step 6: Sleeves
Place one sleeve on the board and press down with the iron from the shoulder of the sleeve to the hand opening. Repeat step on remaining sleeve.
Step 7: Back(1)
Place half of the back of the shirt on the ironing board and press the iron down from the collar to the bottom.
Step 8: Back(2)
Place the other half of the back of the shirt on the ironing board and continue to press the iron down the back of the shirt.
Step 9: Fold Collar Down
Step 10: Hang the Shirt on a Hanger to Prevent Creases From Forming.
Now you're done!!
