How to Install Vivado HLs 2015.4 + Get Your License

NOTE: This page is one part of a larger build. Please ensure you start HERE, so you understand where the following fits in within the larger project.

To code in VHDL and upload the code to an FPGA board, it is necessary to have the right platform. The one that used in this project is Vivado Design Suite HLs 2015.4. The reason for this particular software is because it support the FPGA board BASYS 3 (xca..) that is used in this project. You can download the other version of the software, but to be safe, download the same version to avoid incompatibility.

This is the link of the official Xilinx website where you can download its products.

Find the version 2015.4 and expand.

Scroll again until you find Vivado Design Suite - HLx Editions - Single File Download.

Click the link according to your operating system.

After that, you might be asked to sign in into the website. If you haven't got an account, you can register a new account.

After signed in, you have to fill your credentials. Make sure you provide an accurate and complete information.

Last, you can click the download button.

After finished downloading, open the file and click xsetup.exe

You can follow the recommended configuration for the setup at the figures above.

At the last figure, you can choose where to put the installation files.

After finished installing, the license manager may pops up and you should get the license.

Select Get My Full or Purchased License and Connect Now.

After that you maybe asked to fill your credentials again. Just fill it once again like you did before.

Then, you will be referred to the website where you can select your license.

Select Vivado Design Suite: HL WebPack 2015 and Earlier License (you might not see it in the figure above because I already installed the license).

And then Generate Node-Locked License.

Then check your email and download the license.lic file.

After downloading the license, open the license manager and select Load License, then Copy License.

Then select the license.lic file you previously downloaded.
