How to Install Aftermarket Radios
My name is Dean Small and I'm going to be wiring aftermarket radios.
Supplies
The three supplies needed are wire cutters, electrical tape, and wire nuts.
Strip All the Wires
Cut about a 1/4 off of every wire one at a time to prevent blowing fuses. Keep the vehicle off while stripping wires. A wire tester would help but it's not really needed.
Color Match Wires and Connect Them Together
Most of the wires will color match so it's best to start with them first. After every wire connected put a wire nut on. The wires that don't color match save for last because there will only be 2 that don't match. Not every wire will be used also so for those just strip them and put a wire nut on them anyways. It's important to make sure the antenna is plugged in in order for radio stations to come in otherwise Bluetooth and car play are an option.
Wrap Wires With Electrical Tape
After every wire is connected wrap everything with electrical tape to make it easier to fit into place and it'll keep wires from getting caught on something. After wrapping them all make sure there are not wires that came undone or are loose.
Test the Radio
Now that everything is done and turn the vehicle on and see if the radio powers on and that all the buttons function like they should. If it does not power on the two wire that don't color match are probably mixed up.
