How to Install Adjustable Balljoints to Adjust Camber

Using his Lexus ISF, Freddy shows you how to install adjustable ball joints in your upper control arms so you can adjust camber.
Supplies

Disconnect Ball Joint




Loosen but dont remove the nut securing the upper ball joint to the steering knuckle. With the nut loose, but still on the threads, hit the side of the steering knuckle with a hammer to break it free from the ball joint. When it finally breaks free from the ball joint, remove the nut the rest of the way.
Remove Upper Control Arm



Use a wrench and remove the 2 bolts securing the upper control arm
Remove Old Ball Joint






Remove the locking ring that secures the ball joint rubber boot. Then remove the locking ring that secures the ball joint into the control arm. With the locking rings removed, use a ball joint pretty kit to remove the ball joint from the control arm.
Install Adjustable Ball Joint






Disassemble the adjustable ball joint by removing the nut and camber gauge. Instill the ball joint into the control arm from the bottom, aligning the groove of the balljoint and the groove of the control arm. Place the camber gauge on top of the control arm and secure it all but install the nut on the ball joints thread.
Set Camber


You can now slide the ball joint forward and backward on the camber gauge, I slide mine to the max positive camber setting to correct my camber problem. Then torque the balljoints top nut to the specified torque.
Install Control Arm


Install the control arm back into the car and reconnect the balljoint to the steering knuckle.
Done


Now that your adjustable balljoints are installed, you can take your car to an alignment professional and have the settings dialed it.
