How to Hit in Volleyball
How to hit outside in volleyball. These instructions are written for someone who is right-handed. If you are left-handed, simply do the opposite of the instructions, for example, when it says to step with your right foot, step with your left foot instead.
Supplies
Volleyball, another person, and a volleyball net (optional)
Ten-foot Line
Stand on the left side of the ten foot line.
First Step
As the ball hits the setters hands, roll your right foot forward (or left if you're left handed) by placing down your heel first and follow with the rest of your foot. In other words, take a slow small step.
The Highest Point
When the ball is at the highest point in the air, take a quick large step with your left foot.
Large Step
Take another quick large step with your right foot.
Jump
Take a very quick short step with you left foot and jump.
Arms
Point your left arm out and bring your right hand up by your ear with your arm bent.
Swing Your Arm
Swing your right arm forward while slightly turning your upper body forward.
Hitting the Ball
Make contact with the ball with your right hand and snap your wrist downwards.
Follow Through
Follow through with the motion after you've hit the ball (continue to swing your arm downwards).
Landing
Land with your right foot slightly in front of the left, tilted at an angle.
Put It Together
Put all the step together and make sure to move quickly. It may take a few tries to get the timing down.
