How to Help!
HELP! The Ocean is in danger! But wait....YOU can help save it! Its important to know how the actions were are making are affecting the world, but its also important to know how we can change those actions in order to make it better. By listing several ways you can be helpful to environment, I'm going to help YOU make and impact.
Research
Find out how the ocean is being effected by your actions. Research corals, marine life, endangered species, etc. and see why they going extinct.
Educate Yourself
Research corals, marine life, endangered species, etc. and see why they going extinct.
Find Solutions to Help
Find easy and simple ways in your everyday life to help keep the ocean clean.
Reduce Your Use of Plastic Bottles
Try using metal water bottles and re-filling them throughout the day, rather than getting a new plastic bottle every time you're thirsty.
Use Re-usable Alternatives
Instead of using unnecessary plastic, use reusable options like, tupperware or Willstar reusable ziploc bags.
Reduce Water
Another was you can help is by reducing how much water you use. Easy things like shutting the water off while brushing your teeth and not being wasteful with water.
Try Reusable Bags
Plastic bags cause over 100,000 animals in the ocean to die every year. By using canvas or paper bags when you are shopping, your can help reduce this number and help keep the ocean cleaner.
Be Respectful
When swimming with marine life or corals, observe from a distance. Swimming next to them and taking pictures is respectful, but touching or harming the animals is not. Touching corals can cause the whole reef to die, so just be mindful.
RECYCLE!
Plastic is everywhere in our lives and we can't just completely avoid it, but we can recycle it. When using plastic, recycle as much as you can so it goes to the correct place to be rightfully disposed of.
Spread the Word
Tell others about the issues effecting the ocean. Give them these same easy solutions so that they can help this cause!
I'm not saying you MUST give these things up or that you have to do them, because that would make me a hypocrite. Sometimes I too just want to be able to grab a water bottle from the fridge without having to fill it up, or leave the sink on so it makes it faster for me to brush my teeth. All I'm asking is to simply think about these things before you do them, and think about how they may be effecting the bigger picture of our world.
