Gather Your Supples

supplies.jpg
  • Painters tape
  • 3 different colors of embroidery floss cut 24-36 inches long
  • Scissors
  • A ruler
  • A table

*To know the length of embroidery floss you will need, measure the circumference of your wrist, add 6 inches, and then double it. So, if your wrist is 6 inches long, you will need a length of at least 24. This will give you a little extra room for tying. The way I like to do this is by taking a piece of string and wrap it around my wrist. I then mark the string where it meets the beginning and measure it using a ruler.

Fold in Half

gather your supplies.jpg
  1. Fold the floss in half.

*The colors do not have to be in a specific order. However, make sure the strings are not tangled or twisted, it will make it harder to separate them after you tie them together

Gather and Tie

Make a knot.
This is how we recommend doing int
  1. Gather the folded strings at the unfolded ends while they are still folded.
  2. About 2 inches down, pinch the strings together.
  3. Cross the top two inches over the rest of the string, making a loop.
  4. Take the top of the strand and bring it under the loop and thread it through.
  5. Pull tight.

Tape String to Table

tape string to table.jpg
  1. Above the knot tape to the table with the masking tape.

We recommend using two medium size pieces of tape and taping in an "X" shape.

*Be sure the string is secure

Seperate the Strings

seperate strings.jpg
  • Separate to your desirable pattern on each side
  • When lining them up, you will need 3 loops on each side

*I recommend lining up the colors to mirror each other on each side.

Place on Fingers

put on fingers.jpg
  • There should be one loop per finger on each hand. In the beginning, you will have 3 strings per hand.
  • Each loop should be on the inside of each finger

*The top loop goes on your index finger, the middle loop on your middle finger, and the bottom loop on your ring finger. This should be the same on both hands.

Weave Through String on Left Hand

weave through left hand.jpg
  1. Move your pinky finger from your right hand to the loop on your ring finger on your left hand
  2. Go under the right side of the loop and place your pinky on top of the left side of the loop, repeat with the next 2 loops on your left hand
  3. With your pinky take to loop on your pointer finger and bring it through the other loops on your left hand, bringing it to the other side and keeping it on your pinky finger on your right hand.

*You will now have 2 loops on your left hand and 4 loops on your right hand.

Weave Through String on Right Hand

weave through right hand.jpg
  1. Take your pinky finger from your left hand and bring it to the loop on your pinky on your right hand.
  2. Go under the left side of the loop and place your pinky on top of the right side of the loop, repeat with the next 3 loops on your right hand.
  3. With your pinky take the loop on your pointer finger and bring it through the other loops on your right hand, bringing it to the other side and keeping it on your pinky finger on your left hand.

*You will now have 3 loops on your left hand and three on your right

Be sure to keep the strings tight. it will make it easier to weave.
