How to Do an Everyday Makeup Look!

Makeup is everywhere these days, magazines, billboards, tv, anywhere you look you see something about it. Everyone wants to know how to do it and today I will show you just that! I grew up around makeup, so I was always the kid who was in her mom’s makeup bag. After I learned how to do makeup from watching Youtube videos about it, I wanted to show others how to do it too! I will be showing my preferred everyday makeup routine because it is very simple for any beginner to follow. This is just a basic everyday look, however, it can be modified to any makeup look out there. Creativity is key here.

Supplies

To begin make sure the face is freshly cleaned and moisturized. Let's start with the face products, then once we get that down we will move onto the eyes. The products needed for this routine are, face primer, foundation and concealer (preferably foundation that matches the skin and concealer a shade lighter than that), bronzer, blush, highlighter, setting powder, setting spray, eyebrow pencil (with a spoolie end), and gel, any type of beauty sponge, and a variety of face brushes.

Find Perfect Lighting

Before starting the actual makeup, go to an area where there is both a mirror and decent lighting, for example, a bathroom vanity. We want to be in natural lighting or bright white lighting because it helps when it comes to blending and making sure the makeup is the right shade for the face. What we don’t want to do is go in darker yellow lighting. This will make it very difficult to see what is happening and can cause the look to not be correct. The first image you see is good lighting and the second would be an example of bad lighting.

Set Out All of the Products

At this time, set out all of the products so they are at easy reach. Dampen the beauty sponge with warm water until it is about double the size as it was originally. Make sure to squeeze out all the water from the sponge before applying the product. The dampened sponge will help make sure that the face makeup is blended evenly.

Apply Face Primer

Next, take any choice of face primer and use a dime-size amount and apply all over the face making sure it is well incorporated into the skin. Applying the primer helps keep the makeup on longer throughout the day.

Fill in the Brows

Eyebrows
Brow Gel

Now let's do some brows! Taking the spoolie end of the brow pencil, brush out the brows upwards. Then draw thin hairlike lines just to fill in any bald spots on the brows. Do this in a soft upwards motion so it’s as natural as possible. After getting the desired look, brush the brow hairs back into the natural curve of the brow using the brow gel. Use a light amount of gel so the brows aren’t clumpy, you just want enough to keep them in place.

Apply Foundation

After brows would come the foundation. Make sure the foundation matches the shade of skin before applying it all over the face. Get as close to the natural skin color as possible. Take about a quarter size amount of foundation on the back of the hand. Using the dampened sponge, pat the foundation into the skin lightly. Do this all over until an even layer is all over the face. Don’t forget to blend down the neck.

Apply Concealer Over Top of Foundation

Concealer

Once the foundation is finished, grab a favorite concealer and the same sponge and put a thin layer under the eyes, on the bridge of the nose, in the center of the forehead, and the center of the chin, and blend until evenly blended into the foundation. The amount of concealer used is all personal preference, but I like to use just a thin layer to cover up any blemishes and to highlight the face.

Set in the Base With Powder

Following the application of concealer, use a setting powder of choice and apply it where the concealer was applied to set it into the skin. Be sure not to apply too much product. Applying too much powder can result in the product to cake on the face. For the look we are trying to achieve, we want an even, natural look. A little bit goes a long way for all of these products.

Add Some Dimension!

Bronzer, Blush, Highlight

Now time for some dimension. Let's add bronzer, blush, and highlight! For bronzer use a shade just a few shades darker than the skin tone. Apply right below the cheekbones, on the sides of the nose, and the jawline. Less is more when it comes to bronzer, use a light hand. When adding blush, go with a color that best suits the skin and apply with a light hand to the apples of your cheeks (if you smile you can see this a little better). Once the desired look is achieved with the blush, it’s time for highlight. Just use a small amount right on the tops of the cheekbones and on the tip of the nose is perfect!

Set the Makeup

Finally for the face makeup, spray the face with setting spray to ensure everything will last all day! Three sprays are just enough. One on the lower left and right side of the face and one on the upper half of the face in the middle. Use a makeup palate or fan to fan the face until the spray is somewhat set in.

Supplies for Eye Makeup

Now onto the eye makeup portion of the tutorial. For today we are just going to go simple with a light pink look and a little sparkle but feel free to use some creativity here. The products needed for this are an eyeshadow palette of choice, eyeshadow brushes, eyelash curler, and black mascara.

Apply and Blend Eyeshadow

First, start by picking 3 shades. Preferably a lighter shade and a shade of the same color but 2-3 shades darker as well as a sparkly shade that pairs well with the two previous shades picked. Place the light shade first on the whole lid and blend into the crease. Then place the darker shade in the outer corner of the lid and crease and blend until it’s an even blend of both colors. After blending those two, add the sparkle shade right on the center of the lid to the inner corner.

Curl Those Lashes and Apply Some Mascara

Mascara

Once the eyeshadow is to the liking, it’s time to finish off the eyes with mascara. Before applying mascara always curl the lashes. Curling the lashes will make them look longer than if they weren’t curled. Be careful not to get too close to the eyelid when curling the lashes. When the lashes are done being curled apply a thin layer of black mascara. Be sure not to apply too much mascara. What we don’t want is clumpy lashes. Just do a few light strokes on the lashes and then leave them alone.

Conclusion

Finally, find a shade lip gloss that pairs well with the rest of the look (this part is optional). To play it safe, use a clear gloss to just add a bit of shine to the lips. Add a thin layer of the gloss to the lips to complete the look! After reading all of the steps above, creating this makeup look should be a piece of cake! Now everyone can know how to do a natural and easy look. The awesome thing about makeup is that anyone can learn it and it doesn’t have any limits, creativity is the only thing that is needed!
