How to Do a Rainbow Kick/flick
Learning a sport is fun, but learning cool tricks is more fun. I’ll be teaching you how to do a rainbow flick. What is a rainbow flick? Well, a rainbow flick is a trick used in soccer to flick the ball over yourself creating a rainbow-like action by the ball. Before we get started, you’ll need to know your dominant foot, gather equipment (in this case a soccer ball preferably size 5), and find level ground.
Supplies
Soccer ball, level ground
Finding Your Dominant Foot
To find out what your dominant foot is you can drop a ball on the ground and kick it like you want to score a goal and the foot that you instinctively kick with is your dominant foot. Some people find that the hand they write with is often the same as their dominant foot. There are situations where both feet are equally dominant, in that case, you just use whichever foot you’d like to kick with. Once you figure that out, you can move on to the next step which is finding level ground.
Position Your Feet
The reason the ground needs to be leveled is for accuracy and balance. That means no dips in the ground. This is essential to doing a good rainbow flick for beginners. Once you find level ground, position the ball in between your legs. Make sure that the ball is by the heel of your less dominant foot. You are now all set and positioned to start off the flick.
Rolling Up and Kick
Begin by rolling up the ball with the top part of your dominant foot by using the leg of your opposite foot as support. After you roll up the ball halfway to the calf of your less dominant foot, you’ll then kick up with your less dominant foot. The kick-off should be positioned at an angle to the back of the knee of the dominant foot, at the same time as the kick-off you’ll plant your dominant foot on the ground.
Conclusion
Furthermore,
It is important to make sure you kick off quickly and with a lot of force because it’ll create that flick. If you don’t roll off and kick off fast the ball will drop to the ground before you can complete the move. After doing all the steps the ball will fly over your head, and you can safely say you did a rainbow flick. It will take a couple of tries before really getting the hang of it but you can show it off to your friends and show them your trick even if you don’t know anything about soccer.
