How to Distress Your Jeans
Learn how to distress your own jeans at home with this video, plus some jokes and a short history lesson.
What You Need:
You will need:
Jeans
knife/blade
small plank of wood
scissors
razor
pumice stone
pencil
sandpaper
bleach (optional)
toothbrush (optional)
Get Distressing!
Begin with making cuts across the jeans, using the block of wood inside the leg to stop the cuts going right though to the other side. Make the cuts approx. half an inch apart. Good places to cut are across the knees, around the very bottoms of the jeans and around the pockets. In places that would show wear but not necessarily tears and cuts, take the pumice stone or sandpaper and rub the jeans to get them to fray and so the colour fades slightly. Continuing roughing up the areas you want to look distressed with the sandpaper and knife.
At this point you can also add splatters of bleach to tie the colour out and make them look older.
Do however much you like, a little or a lot, it's up to you.
Wash and Dry
Wash and dry the jeans to make the fraying happen more and to make loose threads fall out.
