Google Docs doesn’t offer a built-in feature for curved text like some graphic design tools do. However, you can achieve the effect using two methods:

  1. Curved Text Generator [👍 Easy Method]. To create curved text in Google Docs, you'll need to use a separate program to generate the curved text, then insert it as an image into your document.
  2. Google Drawings [⌛Time Consuming Method]. Google Drawings doesn’t curve text directly, but you can manually arrange each letter or word around a shape. Insert a circle or oval from the shape menu. Place and rotate individual text boxes or letters along the edge of the shape to simulate a curve.

So, while we are waiting for Google Docs updates, here’s how we can add curved text to our documents:

Supplies

To add a curved text in Google Docs you need a graphic design that can do that:

  1. Photoshop (Gimp, Photopea, etc.)
  2. Curved Text Generator (Curvedtext.io, MockoFun, Canva, InkPx, etc.)

Create Curved Text in Google Slides (Method 1)

The first method and probably the easier one is to use a curved text generator tool. There are lots of free online options that do not require register to download.

Create the Curved Text

Open the curved text generator and create the curved text.

Start by adding your text message. The length of your text depends on the circle radius and the font size.

Customize the Curved Text

If you want to make a circle text like a stamp for example, simply add more text. You can also use text symbols and emojis.

Then, customize the appearance to your liking:

  1. Choose the Font Type
  2. Set the Font Size
  3. Set the Letter Spacing
  4. Set the Text Color
  5. Set the Background Color

For the circle shape, you can set the Radius and the Rotation.

Add a Background Image

If you want more that a simple curved text, you can create a text around a path. I will use a pizza PNG image as background for the curve text. I will also set a color for the background.

Download the Curved Text PNG

If you want a simple curved text, remove the background color/image. Then, download the PNG file.

Upload the Curved Text in Google Docs

Google Drawings doesn’t curve text directly, but you can manually arrange each letter or word around a shape:

  1. Insert a circle or oval from the shape menu.
  2. Add a text and write the first letter
  3. Set the Size, Font and Color
  4. Place and rotate the letter
  5. Copy paste the first letter, place and rotate it

Basically you have individual text boxes or letters along the edge of the shape to simulate a curve.

Save and Close to See the Result
