How to Crochet 2 Color Wave Stitch
Surely you’ve see a ton of blankets with these waves!
We suggest that when you have a long weekend you venure into making a blanket with this stitch. It’s called wave stitch, and here we’ve made it with 2 colors, but if you want you can make it with as many colors as you like. It’s a versatile stitch that you can use to make baby blankets with some pastel colors or something more modern with colors that pop. It works up quickly and keeps your attention right up to the end.
Worked over a multiple of 12 stitches plus 3 extra chains. You can use any material, size, or weight. You should know single crochet, half double crochet, triple crochet, and double triple. If you can’t remember all of these, no worries, you can watch the tutorials that we have on our video section so you’ve got no excuse for not starting a blanket.
We start with a chain in color A, and chain 12 plus 3 extra. For this example, we chained 24 +3. We start the wave at the low point and move to the high point.
Row 1: With color A, keep in mind that the 3 extra chains are going to act as the first stitch, so make your first single crochet by inserting your hook into the 4th chain from your hook. *Single crochet 2, half double crochet 2, double crochet 2, triple crochet 2, double crochet 2, half double crochet 2.* Repeat from * to * to the end of row.
Row 2: With color B, chain 5 and double triple crochet 1. *Double crochet 2, half double crochet 2, single crochet 2, half double crochet 2, double crochet 2, triple crochet 2*. Repeat from * to * until there are 11 stitches remaining. Double crochet 2, half double crochet 2, single crochet 2, half double crochet 2, double crochet 2, double triple crochet 1.
Row 3: With color B repeat row 2.
Row 4 and 5: repeat row 1.
Repeat rows 1 to 5 until you reach the desired length. Dare yourself to make a thousand combinations with the extensive range of colors from We Are Knitters! And remember to use the hashtag #weareknitters on social media.
