How to Create a Small Electronics Badge!
I searched the internet and the whole social media about (how to make a customized Badge) but truly I didn't get any "well instructed post" so here I am sharing this guide about electronics PCB badges to save someone else's time, since this is the main reason of the instructables platform (share knowledge).
This badge design is so easy to make and after all it needs just an artful spirit and a cool mind of a maker so just stick to the below steps and you will land on success. I hope that you get the needed instructions and I'm always open for suggestions, if you have any recommendations to improve this post just write a comment.
Supplies
This is what you will need
- Obviously a computer is needed
- The file of your Badge (could be any PNG image from Internet)
- Soldering Iron (with a pointy end tip)
- Core wire (small section of 0.8mm is recommended)
- Some small LEDs (0402 package)
- SMD Resistor (1KOhm 0603 package)
- Battery coin cell and its battery holder (CR1220 package)
Design the Schematic
From you computer, move to EasyEDA which is an online EDA tool and just start a new project there and bring the basic parts of our circuit from the parts library.
I attached an image of the circuit, it just has a battery that will power ON and LED through a small resistor
One you finish the circuit design you need just to convert it to circuit board (PCB) by clicking on "design>>Convert Schematic to PCB" and the circuit design view will show up.

Design the Circuit Board
You will get the electronics parts that you used on your schematic placed randomly in the PCB layout, keep it as it is for the moment and let's first draw the board outline.
I assume that you have the file image of the design that you are wiling to create right! just move to the PCB tools and upload the image of the board shape from the "Image" tool.
Then start frawing the board outline aroud the desired shape, once you finish it you bring the electronics components inside the drawed shape. don't forget to place the small LED above the eye position.
You can create some copper under the board color mask by placing "solid regions" and set it as "top layer".
after preparing the design all what is need is sending the related GERBER files to any manufacturer to produce the circuit board.
Assemble the Electronics Parts
Your design is here so all what you need now is a good solder iron and some core wire to assemble the parts to their positions.
Once you get all the parts assembled to their locations, just put the Battery in its holder and the LED will light up.
And here we are with a cool small badge that could fit easily like a pattern : )
