It would also be good to have a Pencil and Ruler while creating the Knife Block

Planning the Placement of Magnets

When having a self-made or have found a pre-made block of wood which has the dimensions of approximately 40 centimetres in width, 14 centimetres in length and 1.5 centimetres in thickness (does not have to be exactly but would need to round somewhere around these dimensions), using a pencil and a ruler gently divide the cutting board into 4 different columns going from the top to the bottom and each column should be equal to 10 since we divided the width (40) by 4, which is our amount of Knifes we will hang onto our Knife Block. After that, add 3 equal boxes into each column created with the letter “x” marked in the middle of each box as seen in the image below. The letter “x” is there as visual representation where to drill holes later on, and will help to drill the hole accurately in the middle.

Drilling

Using a hole driller machine, drill 12 holes into the wooden block on the spots where “x” is marked. Since the purpose is to only drill 0.8 cm deep and not drill completely to the other side of the wooden block, using a pencil and ruler, mark where from the bottom of the tip of the driller it reaches 0.8 cm. The marking will help while drilling since when the mark reaches wood height, it makes it clearly that 0.8 cm were drilled. Also make sure that the tip of the driller is precisely touching the middle of the “x” when pulling the handle of the machine down. To start drilling first, turn the red button to the right and right after, pull the red button. Next, press the “1” button to activate the driller and while the driller is spinning in a very high speed, pull down the handle of the hole driller which makes the driller drop down and drill the hole inside the wood block until the mark reaches the same height level as the wooden block, and to avoid any injuries press the “O” bottom which can also be identified as a red squared button.

Repeat this, until all the “x” marks are drilled.

Adding Magnets and Gluing

Put 1 Magnet in each hole, until all holes have been filled with Magnets. To protect the magnets from falling out of the holes, causing them to break, close the hole in which the magnets are by using a hot glue gun to cover up the magnet with glue and for them to stick in the wooden block safely while also functioning through the other side of the wooden knife block on which the knifes will hang.

Sanding

Sand the Wooden Block, by using a sanding block which is wrapped inside the sanding paper. Go over the edges which seem sharp from the first glance and make the sides as smooth as possible. Make sure there are no splinters popping out of the sides or the front of the wooden block. This will prevent any splinter injury, and will make the wooden block aesthetically appealing and pleasing.

Power Striping the Back

Using any kind of power strips, stick them all around the back of the wooden block and make sure they are evenly spread so that the Knife Block will not drop due to bad placement of the Power Strips.

Sticking the Wooden Block

Stick the Wooden Block anywhere, just be sure that it is somewhere around the Kitchen and is easily accessible when cooking and when cutting special types of food. Some examples of places where the Wooden Knife Block can be placed is on the sides of the refrigerator or kitchen wall.

Get 4 Knifes which you want to hang onto the self-made knife block and place them right into the positioning of the 3 metals which are in a row (top to bottom) on the other side of the knife block, let the magic happen, and enjoy your Wooden Hanging Knife Block.
