How to Copy Any Image Onto Light or Dark Surfaces. 2 Easy Tricks

The tricks I'm gonna show you, I use quite often and they 100% work great for many surfaces such as card stock, wood, cotton/linen fabric, leather and some others.

The first method I recommend for light-colored surfaces. You will need:

a piece of white paper like copy paper which you use for your printer;

soft graphite pencil;

the image which you are going to copy;

the surface where the image is gonna be copied (canvas, wood, etc).

The second method I recommend for dark-colored surfaces. You will need:

all as above but instead of a soft graphite pencil take a chalk (white or any light colored).

Pencil Method. Color Out a Piece of Paper With a Soft Graphite Pencil

Place It Over Your Project Face Down

Place an Image Which Is Gonna Be Copied Over the Graphite Paper and Trace the Outline With a Pen

Remove the Image and Graphite Paper and See the Faint Outline Left

Color the Traced Image and You Are Done!

This method also works for mugs, stones and plastic.

Some tips:

Make sure you use a soft graphite pencil not a hard one.

You can use the diy graphite paper several times for tracing images.

Chalk Method. the Same As Above But for Dark Surfaces

I tried the chalk method for card stock, canvas, wood and cotton. It works fine. It's not very comfortable to work with chalk on large surfaces because chalk leaves marks that are actually easy to remove but take time.

Chalk method doesn't work for mugs, stones, glass or plastic.
