How to Cook a Chopped Cheese Sandwich
Chopped Cheese Sandwich started out in the Bronx and Harlem, chopped burger with cheese melted on top with a hero roll.
I couldn’t find a hero roll so please forgive me that one.
It’s not the prettiest sandwich but damn it’s good!
To Start Place a Pan or Your Grill Over Medium to High Heat.
Add some oil before adding 1 sliced onion.
Cook the onion until it begins to soften and go translucent.
Move the onion to one side.
Place Two Burger Patties in the Centre of the Pan.
Season with salt and pepper.
Once the bottom of the patties is nicely seared, start chopping them up using a burger flipper.
Chop them up into smaller and smaller pieces.
Place the onions on top
Next, Cut Your Roll So It Can Layout Flat.
Butter the roll and toast.
Place Two Slices of Cheese on Top.
I know they’ll be comment yelling at me for using American Cheese but I’ll tell you this, nothing melts like American cheese and much like a burger we want the cheese to cling to the meat and hold it all together.
Your Roll Should Be Toasted.
Now to make the sandwich, add a layer of mayo on the bottom.
A layer of ketchup on the top.
Followed by some iceberg lettuce.
A couple of slices of tomato.
Finally, the chopped cheese.
There You Have It! a Chopped Cheese Sandwich!
It’s not the prettiest sandwich but damn it’s good!
