How to Cook Rice in an Air Fryer
Learn how to cook rice in an air fryer. Recently I was asked how to do this so I thought I would make a tutorial for it. I don't think it is the best way to cook rice, I prefer the rice cooker or traditional stovetop method, but I realize not everyone owns a rice cooker, plus it is always fun to learn new ways to use the air fryer.
Don't forget to follow me and check out my other Instructuables. :)
Follow the super simple steps below or watch the short video tutorial or do both.
Supplies
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups to 2 cups of water
- 1 cup of rice
Tools:
- Air Fryer: My favorite air fryer
- Oven-safe bowl or pan that fits in the air fryer basket. A deep cake pan will work great, use a 3-inch deep one.
- Aluminum foil

Rice and Water
If you are using enriched rice there is no need to pre-rinse the rice first. If you are NOT using enriched rice, you should rinse the rice a few times first.
Place the rice in your air fryer-safe bowl or pan. A Pyrex bowl or porcelain bowl works great too. Then add your water. If you like your rice a little on the mushier side at the full 2 cups of water. Otherwise only add 1 3/4 cups of water.
Cook That Rice
Now set the air fryer to "air fry" and the temp to 385F/195C. The time will vary between 25 and 35 minutes. Yes, it takes longer than a rice cooker or on the stovetop.
Once done remove the air fryer basket and use a hot mitt to retrieve the bowl. Gently lift up the foil and allow the steam to escape. Fluff the rice with a spoon or fork. If there is still a bit of water on the bottom you can cover it and cook it 3 to 4 more minutes.
Now you can use the rice for whatever you need it for. Enjoy!
