How to Cook Potato Sticks
Potato sticks are a perfect change of scenery for those who might be a little tired of seeing the same old hot chips on the plate.
Ingredients
- 500g Potatoes
- 100g Corn flour
- Salt
- ½ tbsp Garlic Powder
Appealing
Let’s get started by peeling the potatoes and save that skin for later! (We have another recipe to use them with)
Then we chop the potatoes up to ready to cook.
Bubble, Bubble…
Next up, we will put our chopped potatoes into a pot.
Add some salt to the potatoes and then some water.
Bring to a boil and allow to cook for 20 minutes.
Poke Test
Test the potatoes are cooked, a poke with a fork should pass through with little resistance.
Monster Mash!
Drain the pot, then mash the potatoes until super fine!
Mix It Up
Once they’re smooth, add:
- 100g of corn flour
- ½ tsp of Garlic Powder
- Pinch of salt.
Mix it all together until it forms a dough.
Zip It Up
Place in a ziplock bag and roll out until one and a half centimetres thick.
Put the bag in the freezer for 10 minutes.
Slice
Remove the bag from the freezer and carefully remove the potato, I like to cut it out of the bag so I don’t disturb the shape.
Slice the potato into sticks.
What’s Cookin’ Good Lookin'?
Heat oil in a frying pan to 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 180 degrees celsius and cook until beautifully golden brown.
Remove from the pan.
Season with salt and serve with mayo or sauce.
Let’s Eat!
This is an incredibly easy to make and enjoyable snack that will surely be snatched up quick!
