How to Cook Cumin Rice (jeera Rice)



INGREDIENTS
1 cup Long Grain Basmati Rice
3 cups Water
Salt
Tempering
Cumin Seeds- 2 Tablespoons
Half cup Green Peas
4 tablespoons Pure DesiGhee or Clarified Butter
Garnishing
Green Chillies (optional)
Cilantro
Curry Leaves
1. STEP 1- COOKING THE RICE
Take 1 cup of long grain basmati Rice to that add 3 cups of water and Add salt as desired. Rice will be cooked in around 25-30 minutes. Keep Aside, make sure not to add more than 3 cups water otherwise the Rice will be soft in consistency. Even if the rice is slightly hard/uncooked that is perfectly fine at this stage because it will be tempered at a later stage
2. STEP 2
Tempering also known as Tadka/Tarka in Hindi - Add 4 Tablespoons Desi Ghee/ Clarified Butter and heat in a Wok/ large pan. To that add Jeera(Cumin Seeds) and Curry Leaves Scientific name: Murraya koenigii, then add the Green peas Fry for about 2 minutes then add the Rice and Stir Fry for about 2 minutes. Tip- avoid a PURE STAINLESS STEEL pan
3. Garnish
Garnish with Coriander leaves/cilantro and/or Green Chillies.
