How to Clean an Iron Skillet - Quick and Easy

Have you always wanted to try cooking with an iron skillet but they are too expense? Well, go to your local thrift store, estate sale, or barn sale and you might just find a rusted out skillet for next to nothing. Jump on that deal because it's so easy to clean up.

Supplies

A dirty iron skillet

Paper towels

Oil

Coarse Salt

The Scrub

Pour oil into the skillet, add a good deal of the salt, then using paper towels, rub vigorously all over the inside, outside, and handle. You may need to add more oil and salt.

Keep Scrubbing

Keep using the salt to scrub all dirt and rust until the skillet is clean.

Wipe Out the Salt

Wipe out all the salt.

Add More Oil

Add more oil to the skillet then use a paper towel to rub the oil all over the skillet.

Season in the Oven

Place the skillet in the oven for 1.5 to 2 hours at 200

Done!

Allow skillet to cool. And you're DONE!
