How to Clean a Scratched DVD

Isn't it annoying when you pop in that favorite family movie, only to find that it is scratched really bad, and its no longer enjoyable to watch? Have no fear. In this instructable, I will show you how to clean cds and dvds, so that you can once more listen to them, or watch them!

Supplies

  • Toothpaste ( it must have baking soda in it, or this won't work.)
  • Windex glass cleaner
  • A Microfiber Cloth

Rinse the DVD

Carefully rinse the dvd under warm water.

Apply Toothpaste

Carefully apply a few strips of toothpaste, as shown in the first picture. Without your finger actually coming into contact with the surface of the dvd, rub the toothpaste around to totally cover the surface of the dvd.

Remove the Toothpaste

Rinse the dvd under warm water, carefully rubbing away the toothpaste. Then hold the dvd as shown in the picture. Shake it back and forth for a minute or so, to air dry it. Do not use a hairdryer.

Apply the Windex

Spray the dvd with Windex glass cleaner. Carefully wipe it dry with a clean microfiber cloth. Your dvd is now clean, and ready for use!
