How to Clean Sticky Residue Off Plastic in 3 Simple Steps!

*First ever instructable so feedback in the comments would be appreciated*

This project can be completed in 3 simple steps in under 5 minutes. In my example, I used a plastic laptop cover but so far I've yet to run into anything sticky this doesn't work on.

With that, still use at your own risk if you are cleaning something of value.

For this project, you will need some simple household materials that can be found at any simple drug store or grocery store.

What you will need:

  • Baking Soda
  • Rubbing Alchohol (The higher the % the better it works, I used 70% in my example)
  • An old toothbrush or something to scrub
  • A small bowl or cup (Something you can mix this solution in)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon measuring device

Mix Up the Solution

Combine the baking soda and rubbing alcohol in your container. I only used a half cup rubbing alcohol to 1/2 teaspoon baking soda ratio.

After pouring them in, mix them thoroughly for about 30 seconds to a minute or until any clumps have dispersed.

Lastly, dampen a rag, or use your scrubbing device with some of the solution, and wipe it over the sticky spots. Let it sit on the spots for about a minute before you begin scrubbing, this makes it way easier to remove.

The photos I attached are my laptop before being cleaned, then only after two minutes of cleaning, and finally 4 minutes it looks almost brand new.
