How to Clean Duplicate Songs in ITunes

Besides making calls and text messages, most iPhone users will take advantage of their device to enjoy music, play games and other activities to make their digital life more interesting. If the iPhone user is a music fan, he/she will sync multiple songs or playlists to his/her iPhone with iTunes to have an enjoyment on the go. Before syncing music to iPhone, users will need to add songs to their iTunes Music Library at first, and this will lead to duplicate songs in iTunes Music Library in certain occasions. For example, if the user changes the location of the source music files on computer, he/she will get the duplicate songs in iTunes after adding the songs to library. Then people will wonder whether they can delete the duplicates in iTunes easily. The following guidance will introduce the guidance in detail.

Start iTunes on your computer, and click the Music icon at the upper left corner. The music files will show up in the window below.

Click View > Show Duplicate Items in the menu bar at the upper left. Then the duplicate songs will show up along with the original one.

Right-click the duplicate song and hit Delete in the drop-down menu.

iTunes will display a pop-up dialog and ask you where you want to put the deleted items. Choose Move to Recycle Bin in the dialog and the duplicate song will be deleted permanently. People can delete the duplicate songs in iTunes one by one with this method. If they have tons of duplicate songs, they can use third-party iTunes cleaning program to finish the task.

Run the iTunes cleaning program on your computer, and select Clean up Duplicates.

Choose the scan mode and click Scan iTunes at the bottom of the window.

After the software detects your iTunes Music Library, it will display all the duplicate items. Click Remove at the upper right corner to delete the duplicate songs from your iTunes library.
