How to Clean Car Headlights

Over time headlights get warped and faded and makes it difficult to drive at night. But with these instructions you yourself will learn how to fix them and not have to spend hundreds of dollars to get them professionally done. Within an hour, you can have clear headlights.

Step 1: Get All Necassary Items Together

You can buy sandpaper kits specifically for polishing headlights at automotive stores/groceries stores

Step 2: Use the Water Hose to Wet the Entire Headlight

Do this before you begin sanding the headlight. While sanding the headlight, continue to wash with water to remove the excess dust/residue.

Step 3: Begin Sanding the Headlights

Begin by using the 500p sandpaper disc attached to the drill in a circular motion over the entire headlight. As that is happening use the water hose to wash off any excess dust that occurs during the drilling.

Step 4: Repeat Previous Step

Repeat for 800p sandpaper disc, 1500p sandpaper disc, and 2000p sandpaper disc.

Step 5: Use Polishing Compound

Once finished with the 2000p sandpaper disc, remove it from the drill and attach the foam disc. Cover the foam disc with about a tablespoon’s worth of polishing compound. Then repeat step 3.

Step 6: Dry Headlight

Using a paper towel or towel completely dry the headlight.

Step 7: Results

Look at the results, if they are not polished enough to your liking then repeat steps 3-6 once more. Then put up all the supplies used.
