Checking your engine oil level is fairly easy, and it is recommended to be checked once a month. Make sure the engine is cold before you start the process. You would need pair of gloves and a rag to complete the process.

If the oil is below this line, you need to add oil to the vehicle.

If the oil is above the full line, you need to remove oil.

If the oil level is anywhere in the blue box, it indicates that oil level is OK, and the vehicle is safe to drive.

Last Step

Reinsert the dipstick, and close the hood.

If it has been a while since your last oil change, pay attention to color of the oil and its smell. If the oil smells like gasoline or it has brown color, it indicates that you need an oil change.
