How to Change Oil on a Quad
Hi, My name is Bradley,
Have you ever wondered why your quad has started to run worse than the day you bought it. Well I’m going to show you how to change the oil on it to help prevent engine damage.
Supplies
The supplies you are going to need are a jack, jack stands, a socket set, oil, oil catch can, and an oil filter
Start and Run Motor Until Up to Temp
The first thing you are going to have to do is warm the engine up to operating temperature. To do this you can either ride it around until it has reached the operating temperature, or just let it sit and idle till it is up to temperature.
Jack Quad Up and Place an Oil Pan Under
After the motor has made it up to temperature find a jack and some jack stands and raise the quad off the ground, while the quad is off the ground place and oil pan underneath the quad. With the oil pan underneath the quad, find the locations of the oil drain plugs, after finding the location of the oil drain plugs take them out to allow the oil to drain.
Pull Drain Plugs
With the oil pan underneath the quad, find the locations of the oil drain plugs, after finding the location of the oil drain plugs take them out to allow the oil to drain. While you wait for the oil to drain out find the location of the oil filter and take the three bolts out that hold the housing on. After taking the oil filter out dispose of the old filter and get a new one. Put the new oil filter back in and put the three bolts back in.
Change Oil Filter
By the time you get the filter out and replaced it should be done draining oil out of the drain plug area, check and make sure it has stopped draining, and if it has put the drain plugs back in. Remove the oil pan from under the quad and safely put the quad back on the ground.
Fill With Oil
With the quad back on the ground find the oil fill and fill the quad back up with oil the specific amount. While doing this make sure you use the manufacture’s specification. If you add too little or too less of oil it can cause harm to the motor.
