How to Change Brake Pads
Hi, my name is Christian, with these instructions I will show you how to correctly and easily remove and install new brake pads on your vehicle step by step.
Supplies
You will need an impact, a socket set, c clamp, wrench set, breaker bar, and a hammer.
Remove Wheel
First thing to do is remove the wheel. Break all the lug nuts loose with a breaker bar and socket while the vehicle is still on the ground. Then jack the vehicle up make sure the jack is on the main frame and take the lug nuts all the way off by hand. After you get the lugs nuts off remove the wheel.
Remove Caliper
Next step will be removing the caliper. Remove the caliper bolts. On the back of the caliper, there will be two bolts on either side. Get a wrench that fits them as they will vary in size depending on the vehicle and take those bolts out. After that the caliper will come off the disc.
Remove the Old Brake Pads Put the New Ones In
Next step, remove the old brake pads. They will side out of the caliper bracket. After you remove the old pads slide the new ones in the same way the old ones came out.
Compress the Caliper Piston
After that compress the break piston. Take the c-clamp and place the screw end against the piston. Place the other side of the c-clamp on the back of the brake caliper assembly as the picture above shows. Tighten the clamp until you can easily slide it over your new brake pads.
Re-install Everything
Re-install the caliper and wheel the same way you took it off.
