How to Burn a Message Into Wood
Today I will teach you how to burn a message into wood using a soldering iron. It's straightforward and easy to learn. I often use these burnt signs for gifts.
Supplies
You are going to need the following:
- Soldering Iron (https://tinyurl.com/jfhlfjhf)
- Wood that fits your message
- Google Docs
- A printer
- Carbon Paper (https://tinyurl.com/hadhhh)
- Tape
(Those are not affiliate links, I legitimately have the products with links and will not rip you off.)
Prep the Wood
Step one is to prepare your wood. Lay your wood down on the table (cut it to size if needed before this step) and lay the carbon paper on top with the glossy side touching the wood, and put the message on top, after that put tape on the 2 or 4 sides (your preference) where the blue is in the picture
Trace the Message
Using a pen or stylus, (whichever you find easier) press down hard on the text, and trace out your message through the carbon paper, once you have done that, you can lift up your message and the carbon paper, and your message will be traced out onto the wood.
Burn Your Message
Once you have done steps 1 and 2, you can now burn your message into the wood! simply take your heated soldering iron and press until you see a bit of black on the wood. That's when you know it's burning the message. Just trace inside the lines, and maybe add a few random burn marks as I did for an interesting look.
You're Finished!
Great Job! Now you know how to make your own, personalized wooden signs.
