How to Build a Simple Queen Bed Frame From Dimensional Lumber

This instructable describes how to build a simple queen bed frame from dimensional lumber.

The bill of materials is listed here along with the tools required and the final cut list of pieces required to build the bed frame. Use of power tools makes this job earlier but hand tools can be used as well.

Head and Foot Board Build

Assemble the head and foot boards. Follow the PDF instructions.

Bed Sides Attach to Head and Foot Board

Attaching the head and foot boards to the side boards. I used large bolts and washers along with nuts. Use a socket and wrench to get initially bolted up but do not tighten the hardware yet. Only tighten after the assembly is completed and measurements are made diagonally to ensure the frame is being assembled evenly . Once adjusted then tighen the hardware.

Adding the BED SLATS

Insert the center support board into the metal frame on the head/foot boards. Then position slats across top and secure with webbing and staples. Screw the outer most slats to the top of the legs.

Paint It

Paint the outer frame. The slats do not require paint.
