How to Build a Mini Log Cabin With Well and Garden

I love dioramas and building them but don't always have the money or supplies to make everything. I also live about an hour and a half away from the nearest art/craft store; so I wanted to show you that you can build something cool with anything.

For this project I used:

A box cutter

Fake grass/moss

Twigs

Small Gravel

Piece of Cardboard

Hot glue or foam glue

Dirt

Fake flower wreath

I first started by drawing a circle on my piece of cardboard that was about as large as I wanted the well to be. I then glued small pieces of gravel around in a circle and kept glueing them on top of each other until the well was tall enough. Once the rock part of the well was dry, I took two small twigs of the same length and a small wood splinter to use as the roof. I took the two sticks and glued them to either side of the well and then glued the piece of wood scrap on top for a roof. I do recommend hot glue instead of the foam glue that I used because they foam glue took way too long to dry.

You could make a cabin several different ways, but I just stacked some twigs lincoln log style and filled in the occasional gap by gluing another twig on the back side. I had meant to cut the sticks and make a doorway by leaving it free, but I completely forgot about it and instead just glued a thin scrap piece of wood for a door and another scrap piece as a type of awning. The cabin was surprisingly easy but the straighter the stick, the better. For the roof I just took scrap wood and laid it over the cabin. I would have loved to make an A-frame roof but I didn't have the right tools to cut wood that was any thicker and was quickly running out of time.

I sketched (on the cardboard) a quick rectangle about the size of how big I wanted the garden plot to be, put a thin layer of foam glue on top, and sprinkled clean dirt on top. I then took a plastic flower wreath that was hanging in my room and cut off a couple of bottom leaf pieces for plants and it wasn't at all noticeable that they were gone. I then glued the small plant pieces in rows and was done with the garden plot. I took a branch and glued it as a tree with some supporting rocks around it but definitely recommend hot glue because that amount of foam glue didn't dry well. I took some glitter type fake moss and sprinkled it all over the cardboard to look like grass. You can buy this at a craft store for pretty cheap, or find it in some model kits (mine was leftover from a finished model kit).
