How to Build a 250 Class FPV Quad

Class 250 quad copters have become increasingly popular, especially due to lot's of YouTube videos in which this small machines exhibit amazing speeds and incredible acrobatics. You must know that this kind of flight needs a lot of skill that is gathered with lots of training.

The scope of this instructable is to aid you in building your own racing quad that is also capable of FPV - first person view from a KIT, or from individual parts. I have also added some links to the required parts for informative purpose.

Parts needed that I have also used in this build:

- Class 250 frame - cheap ZMR250 / H250 clone (fiberglass with carbon look)

- 4x EMAX 1806 - 2280 KV motors (2x CW, 2X CCW)

- 4x EMAX 12A ESC with SimonK firmware

- 4x GemFan 5030 propellers (2x CW and 2x CCW)

- 1x CC3D Flight controller

- 1x 2200mAh 11.1V 3S LiPo battery

- 1x LiPo balance charger

- 1x TS832 5.8 GHz video transmitter (vTX)

- 1x RC832 5.8 GHz video receiver

- 1x FPV Capable camera (GitUp Git2) or small dedicated

- 1x LCD monitor or LCD googles

- 1x 9CH Transmitter (Turningy 9X)

-1x Compatible receiver for the transmitter - minimum 6CH recommended.

- 1x power distribution board (optional)

- 1x LiPo low voltage alarm

- Various power connector

Tools needed

- Soldering iron

- Pliers

- Screwdrivers with hex / torx heads

Materials needed

- Tin

- Flux

- Heat shrink

- Wires

- Duct tape

- Zip ties

- Double sided adhesive band

Step 1

First familiarize yourself with the parts, look at the manuals, specs, etc.

Take them out of the boxes and inspect for missing parts like screws, nuts, keys and so on.

Step 2

Plan your wiring before putting it on the frame to have a better general aspect of which wire goes where and see how would adding components change the installation position inside the quad.

Step 3

Assemble the quad and check all the screws.

Step 4

Install the electronics and the wiring on the frame, solder what's needed.

Configure the CC3D flight controller and calibrate the transmitter-receiver using the Open Pilot Software.
