How to Build 1 Meter Length Boeing 747 Model

Boeing 747 is a magnificent aircraft. I have always been fascinated by this plane, wishing every chance I get to fly on this plane. I decided once and for all that I have to get a model of it, but a model that would represent its beauty and greatness. So I built a 1 meter length model, and I'm gonna teach you how.

• Hot glue gun
• Cast strips
• Kappa board
• Knife
• Angle marker
• Water

• Spatula

Start by making the shape of the body. Free draw the shape on the kappa board or create some sort of jig. Cut the kappa board with a knife. Also, take the angle marker and create the supporters of the body. Put one every 10 cm. At the front and back, glue the supporters vertically.

After the glue is dry, you can start cutting strips from the kappa board and glue them over the supporters as the image below.

Once you have done with one side, do exactly the same on the other side. Keep in mind that you will need to glue the tail after.

Cut off the big upper tail, and two smaller tails for the sides of the plane. Take a large amount of glue and stick them to the body of the craft.

Pro Tip: take the two tails of the sides, and give it a little curve, it will look fantastic.

Take a bowl of water and the cast strips, and start by taking one strip, sink it in the bowl for 20 seconds and lay it over our model. As you can see in the picture, I started to put the cast too soon, but you won't make my mistake again!

After filling the whole body with cast you can lay it over in the sun for dry (Just be sure there isn't rain coming), and make a cup of coffee.

Once the cast got dried, you can start your finishing. This step is completely up to you, get CRAZY. What I did, is printing the logo of my aircraft company (AirDru, by my name, the flag of my country, and a bunch of seat windows, but you can make whatever you want!
