How to Apply False Lashes

To put this tutorial in a nutshell, false eyelashes = instant glam. They're popular among celebrities, makeup artists, and everyday women alike. Whether you're using bold lashes with gems, feathers or funky colors, or soft wispy lashes for a more natural look, false eyelashes can instantly perfect any look.

For a basic, step-by-step eyelash application tutorial, please read along!

*I will be using a pair of strip lashes in this Instructable. :) There are multiple ways to apply lashes, but I find tweezers to be the most convenient.

• Eyelash Adhesive - my favorite brand is by Ardell, and I always use dark adhesive. Clear eyelash adhesive is too visible in my opinion; it looks like the adhesive they use to stick your shampoo & conditioner value pack together, if that makes sense?
• Tweezers
• (1) Q-Tip
• Pair of Eyelashes - Demi and Wispie lashes are my fave
  • You can get eyelashes from just about anywhere: beauty supply stores, drugstores, and of course makeup stores such as Ulta, Sephora, or even online at Amazon.com.

Thankfully I rarely ever have to trim eyelashes, but definitely measure the width of the lash band before applying adhesive. If you do, then you'll also need some scissors or brow trimmers.

Bend your Q-tip in half and apply a drop of glue to the point. Grip your first lash with your tweezer (or fingers), then gently and evenly apply glue to the lower/under part of the eyelash band, NOT on top.

I really like applying glue to falsies this way because: 1 - it prevents the accidental hulk-squeeze of glue that will ruin your lashes, and 2 - by the time you apply glue to the second lash, it's already a bit tacky and makes the whole process go by even faster.

Use your tweezer to grip the lash and wait about 15 seconds for the lash glue to get tacky. Do NOT apply false eyelashes while the adhesive is still slippery wet, because it will not apply or adhere properly, and you'll likely just ruin the lash or get adhesive all over your real lashes. I normally place it right in the middle first, then the inner and outer corners.

Once you have the first lash where you want it, this is a good time to apply adhesive to the other lash and repeat on the other eye.

Once the adhesive is pretty dry, carefully squeeze the false eyelash and your natural lashes together, working from the outer edge, inwards.

Don't squeeze the band, as you may accidentally move the lash; instead squeeze at the curve of the lash.

If you're afraid of doing this with a tweezer, you can also just use an eyelash curler, and squeeze very gently.

To help visualize the impact false lashes have, this 'step' includes pictures of my eyes both with and without them on. Of course you'd apply a lash to both eyes (unless you're going for some strange, specific type of look).

That's pretty much all it takes to get the instant glam of false (strip) eyelashes.
