How to Add Glitters to Image in Photoshop / Photoshop Tutorial

Adobe Photoshop fun tutorial on how to add glitters to images using photoshop.

Duplicate image CTRL + J (CMD for Mac).

Select Lasso tool from toolbar and make selection.

Click the New Layer Mask button in the Layers panel to create a mask.

Navigate to File > Place Embedded > select image > Place

Glitters image is taken from pexels.com, you can also use pixabay.com or unsplash.com for high quality images.

Resize and position glitter image as needed, click check or press enter once you satisfied.

In this step, we will group both top layers by using clipping mask.

To create clipping mask hold down Alt (Option in Mac OS), position the pointer over the line dividing two layers in the Layers panel (the pointer changes to two overlapping circles), and then click.

Click and hold the Create New Fill or Adjustment Layer button at the bottom of the Layers panel.

Select Color Balance.

To change the color of the glitter only, we have to create another clipping mask. We will clip the Color Balance adjustment layer to glitter image and layer 1.

To create clipping mask hold down Alt (Option in Mac OS), position the pointer over the line dividing two layers in the Layers panel (the pointer changes to two overlapping circles), and then click.

In the Properties panel that opens, select any of the Tone balance options— Shadows, Midtones, or Highlights to select the tonal range in which you want to focus your edits.

Move the Cyan/Red, Magenta/Green, or Yellow/Blue slider toward a color that you want to add to the image; drag the slider away from a color that you want to subtract from the image.

Click and hold the Create New Fill or Adjustment Layer button at the bottom of the Layers panel and select Curves.

Create clipping mask.

In the Curves adjustment, you adjust points throughout an image's tonal range. Initially, the image's tonality is represented as a straight diagonal line on a graph. When adjusting an RGB image, the upper-right area of the graph represents the highlights and the lower-left area represents the shadows.

Curves is called curves because it forces your adjustments into gradual, curvy transitions from light to dark. It tries to avoid sharp angles, which produce harsh steps in brightness across tones.

Additionally, you can use blending modes to you get the results you’re looking for. Working with blend modes is almost always an experimental process as every image in unique.

If you want to change color at this stage, click the Color Balance layer in Layers panel and adjust sliders in properties panel, the same goes for Curves adjustment layer.
