How a Nuclear Reactor Works

0001.jpg

I have a passion for Nuclear Power. I have always studied them and loved them, so I finally decided to make a 3D model of one. Here is the final product and the stl.

*Note: This model is not to scale*

Supplies

You'll need a CAD software like Autocad or Inventor, or Blender. I used Blender for this project. You'll also need a video editing software like Canva or Adobe Premire Pro, I used Canva.

Making the Reactor Core

You'll first have to make a cylinder and multiple rods in it for control rods. Control rods help control the Nuclear fission operation. You just made the core of the reactor.

Making the Heavy Water Pipe

You will need to make a beizer curve and then make that in your pipe and convert it to mesh. You need to fit your pipe accordingly.

Making the Heat Exchange

This is the Heat Exchange. It is where the pipe filled with heavy water heated to thousands of degrees decimates all of it heat off. It also in turn evaporates the water and powers the turbines that create the energy. You just need to add a cylinder with a water effect in it.

Making the Condenser and the Turbines

You also need to make the condenser which turns all of the steam into water and dumps it back into the Heat Exchange. To do it just add a beaker like shape and some turbines it the condenser.

Texturing

You can make your own textures but I just got mine from Poly Haven. You will need to go into the Node Wrangler in Shader editor. If you don't have the Node Wrangler add on you should get it, it is very useful. Then, select your principal BSDF and select, add texture node on the Node Wrangler tab. There should be multiple nodes that pop up. After that, click on the open button for the orange node and open your texture. Do that for the Normal, Roughness, ect. You should see your items change their texture.

Video Editing.

I made a short video describing the parts of a Nuclear Reactor and how it works on Canva. Here it is. I hope you guys liked this instructable. If you have any questions just leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Finish

You've finished! Good job!:)
