You will need:

  • One Bead (I prefer pearls but any sort of round bead works)
  • Standard Pliers of your choice
  • Ring Sizer (available on Amazon)
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Wire (of any color or width, I'm using .44 mm gold wire. Just make sure the wire is thin enough to fit through the round bead of your choice).
  • Ring Size Templates (optional if you know your ring size - you may start at Step 2).

Figure Out Your Ring Size

Place a ring size template onto the finger you'd like the ring on and figure out your ring size through trial and error then place that template onto the ring sizer to figure out your size. Mine was approximately an 8.5.

Note: This step is option if you don't have ring size templates/molds or if you already know the size of the ring you'd like to make.

Cutting and Shaping the Wire

Take the size of the ring you'd like to make and add 4 inches to the number. Using a ruler measure out your piece of wire to fit that number. (For example, my ring size was 8.5. 8.5 plus 4 equals 12.5, therefore I should be measuring out 12.5 inches of wire that I will use). Use the scissors to cut accordingly.

**In the photo, I didn't have a ruler so I estimated using a piece of paper**

Once you have that piece of wire cut out meet the two ends of the pieces of wire together so that it looks like the shape of the letter U. Make a small indentation with your fingers at that curve so that It stays looking like the letter U after you let the two ends go.

Placing the Bead and Starting the Ring

Take a round bead of your choice and loop it into the middle of the two pieces of wire, right in the middle of the "U" where you indented earlier. Hold the two ends of the piece of wire in one hand and the bead in the other and pull, making a skinner "U", almost shaped like a "V".

Grab the ring sizer and place it in between the wire so that the bead is in the middle of it. Then that the two end strands and wrap the top one above the ring sizer and the bottom one below it.

To give the ring the official shape, grab the top end and wrap it around the pearl-like in the photo. Grab the bottom end and do the same. This creates a ring around the pearl. Take the two remaining strands and pull on the ends to tighten this ring.

Finishing Touches

Take the ring off of the ring sizer.

Using pliers take one loose strand and wrap it around the ring in order to create a ring-like feature to the left and right of the pearl. Do this until you're satisfied or until the wire runs out. Seal the ends by squeezing them down with pliers when you've run out of wire or cutting off the excess. Repeat on the other side and you're done!
