How to Read & Clear a Check Engine Light

In this video I'll show you how to read and clear the check engine light in your car.  This can be done with a small handheld device called a code scanner.  The code scanner I use in this tutorial is the AutoXray Code Scout 700.  It costs about $60. Sometimes trouble codes indicate a serious problem with your vehicle and sometimes they don't.  It's nice to be able to know what the problem is so you can determine whether or not it is an urgent problem, before you dorp everything to rush over to the mechanic.  The order that the codes appear in is important.  Sometimes a repair that resolves the first trouble code will also resolve all subsequent trouble codes.  You can find out what your codes mean by going to the Autoxray Code Look Up.
