How to Make the Ultraceptor Paper Airplane

Fast, long range and durable, the Ultraceptor is a compact but capable paper airplane. The Ultraceptor is designed to serve as a simple fighter-interceptor paper airplane, and is very able to perform as one.

The Ultraceptor was developed as a successor to older types such as the Hyperceptor and HyperSwift, with improved low speed, high angle of attack ability with the incorporation of canards. Due to its blunt nose and the resulting durability, the Ultraceptor can serve as an operational trainer for origami aviators inexperienced with nose heavy paper airplanes.

Width and Canard Folding

Fold the paper in half along its width. Then on one of the halves, fold the corner down to the center fold. Then repeat on the other side. Once the creases have been established, unfold each. Then fold the paper folds into themselves as shown. Then fold again. Once this is finished, unfold the paper. Then flip the paper and pull these creases in toward the center whilst continuing to pull the corner folds over. Then pull the trailing edges of the overhanging corner folds in toward the center crease. After this is done, pull the nose down as shown.

Unfold the previous corner folds, and fold their forward edges to the previous crease. Then refold the previous fold. Then fold the nose back down as shown.

Fold the aircraft in half, then fold the canards down. After the canards are folded, fold the wings immediately above them. Align the trailing edges with those of the fuselage to maintain an angle of incidence of zero degrees. Measure 0.75 inches in from the edge of the wingtip indicated on each side. Align the straight edges with those of the rest of the wing and fold, creasing at the mark. Tape at the front, back, across the wing roots near the rear and behind the canards.

Like other dart paper airplanes, the Ultraceptor is a quite fast but simple airplane. The Ultraceptor can be launched at neutral or positive attitudes at moderate to high speeds. Additional applicable surfaces include flaps, elevators, ailerons, slats, flaperons, elevons, rudders, air brakes, and canard trim. Enjoy!
